6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from CM Eppes middle school, members of the First LEGO League Team, came to learn about homelessness and to lend a hand in the clothes closet. They were accompanied by their teacher, Megan Nelson, and several parents. They met with Jim Cox and Ken Becker for almost an hour, learning and asking questions about the displaced population in our community.
Ms Nelson explained that the team is preparing a project that highlights a problem that our cities and communities face. The problem which they are addressing is “How can we more immediately help find shelter for those individuals who are displaced so that there is less of an effect on open spaces in our cities”. We are addressing the homeless population as well as those individuals who are displaced following natural disasters such as flooding."
What a promise for our future when the youth of today cares about the community and wants to be part of a solution to such a pressing issue as homelessness. Thank you.
