Without our volunteers, our shelter would quite simply cease to function. We depend on the generosity and compassion of ordinary people just like you. Before the current breakfast program was implemented in June of 2013, we received only 40 meals from a vendor to feed our residents. It was based on a first come, first served basis. Now every day, all of our residents receive a hot breakfast and dinner. 98% percent of our evening meals are supplied by local churches, some of which have been serving since we opened in 1988. Our residents feel special and are spoken to with respect and kindness as they receive their meal. Many times churches will also include a short devotional or prayer. In 2018, with the help of volunteers, we were able to open a clothes closet, open the Respite Quarters, and implement an after-school program. This special attention helps our residents know that someone really cares about them and that they are not invisible.
